# effect, a 10th-level character who is wielding a DRAIN_HP item and not
# regenerating will lose hit points faster than he regains them, even when
# resting: a 25th-level character will be gradually losing hit points at one
# every couple of turns when not resting: and a 50th-level character will
# barely notice the loss. (Do not fear - a DRAIN_HP item will not actually
# reduce the player to 0 hit points and death, although it is quite capable
# of reducing the character to a state where an icky thing could finish the
# job...) Of course, all the Rings of Power DRAIN_MANA (look at the fate of
# the Elves after their destruction), and the One Ring has all three drains,
# of HP, Mana and XP. Use of the Palantir of Westernesse also requires a
# constant drain on the player's concentration (it drains mana): and, it is
# said that Gurthang will drink the blood of its wielder, as it did for
# Beleg Cuthalion and Turin Turambar.
# And some artifacts whose purposes are mainly to do with melee and blind
# fury may inhibit the use of psionics: for instance, the Trident of Wrath,
# the Glaive of Pain, etc. The same is also true of the Beaked Axe of Hurin
# with its Berserker activation: one cannot think clearly while berserk.
